The American Heart Association is the nation’s oldest and largest voluntary organization dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke. Founded by six cardiologists in 1924, our organization now includes more than 22.5 million volunteers and supporters. We fund innovative research, fight for stronger public health policies, and provide critical tools and information to save and improve lives.
SUNRISE MOUNTAIN HIGH SCHOOL, LAS VEGAS NV
Sunrise Mountain High School is paving the path to a brighter future for their students. On April 26, 2017, President and CEO Travis Brady awarded Sunrise Mountain High School in Las Vegas, NV a grant for $20,000. They are the first to receive an award under the new "Brady Shines" charitable giving program.
Sunrise Mountain High School works to empower each student to master academic and social standards, embrace rigor, develop meaningful relationships, graduate, and become a responsible member of a diverse society. Principal Julia Llapur shared that they will use the $20,000 donation to support their nationally recognized Aviation and Robotics Clubs as well as the after-school bus program."
BOYS TOWN NEVADA
Boys Town Nevada opened its doors in 1991, bringing an innovative approach to child and family care to those in need in the Las Vegas area. The site's Integrated Continuum of services includes a residential campus of four Family Homes, where boys and girls learn valuable skills that give them a foundation for a brighter future. Family-based services, such as In-Home Family ServicesSM and Common Sense Parenting ® classes, prevent disruption in the home and facilitate reunification by ensuring that families have the supports and skills they need to create and maintain a safe, stable environment for their children.
GREEN VALLEY KIWANIS
The Green Valley Kiwanis Club was chartered in 1989 with the help of Kiwanians from the Henderson and Las Vegas Clubs. In its relatively short life, the club has proved to be an active force in the community with service to youth, senior citizens and the handicapped. The club presently sponsors 8 High School Key Clubs, the UNLV Circle K Club and 1 Builders Club.
